Thailand’s Strategic Location in ASEAN and Connectivity

Thailand’s Strategic Location in ASEAN and Connectivity
As talked about before, Thailand is a developing country with many great resources and potential for growth. Compared to the past when Thailand was very poor, agricultural nation, Thailand has become an important economic hub in the Southeast Asian region. It is located geographically south of China, east of the Indian subcontinent, and northwest of Australia. Not only that, but it’s also in the heart of ASEAN nations, with Cambodia and Laos to the east and northeast, Myanmar to the northwest, and Malaysia to the south, which easily connects to Singapore by land. The famous golden triangle is located in Thailand’s most northern point, right at the border where the three countries (Thailand, Laos and Myanmar) meet.

Thailand is divided into 76 provinces, which is divided into 6 regions: central, eastern, northern, northeast (Isan), southern, and western.  Some of the popular and major cities in Thailand include Bangkok (the capital), Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Pattaya.

Bangkok has remained a popular location as a tourist destination, but more importantly, a business hub with growing opportunities and massive potential. Over the decades, it has transformed itself from being just a popular travel destination to one of Southeast Asian’s “business cities.” As Thailand has joined the AEC, many more achievements and developments will be happening in the future.

With a rapidly growing community, and resilient economy, Thailand’s advantages have been attracting a lot of foreign investors, which helps the country prosper and develop many industries. The location of the nation serves as a gateway into Asia, as it provides land transport routes to many countries. It is also easily reachable by land to China and India, the powerhouses of Asia, with over 150 direct flights all over the world from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport. Infrastructure projects have been developing over the years to improve railway, water, air and land transportation within Thailand, and to other countries outside. Transportation within Asia from Bangkok is relatively cheap and convenient.
